Christian Board Books for Babies!
Our family spends a lot of time at church. We might be there for Divine Liturgy, a moleben, a talk/study, or some other church event. Now that we have a little one, we like to do our best to help her be calm, quiet, and (somewhat) attentive to what is going on. One of the ways we do that is by having Christian Board books for Little Fox to look at while we are at church. We also keep some on her bookshelf at home, and it really warms our hearts to see her flipping through them on her own! Here our some of our favourite Christian board books
Our Blessed Mother
Our Blessed Mother goes through various events in the life of Mary. There are large print titles of the events on the top of each page, and at the bottom there are smaller print messages asking Mary to pray for us. These prayers are related to Mary’s experiences as depicted in the images.
In the same series as Our Blessed Mother is Our Guardian Angels. I like this book for its narrative of how our guardian angel can help us through each day. Both these books are very reasonably priced so I recommend grabbing them both!
The Mother of God in Icons
I noticed The Mother of God in Icons in the Amazon.com bookstore and I definitely want to get it! Unfortunately, it isn’t available on amazon.ca at this time. The Mother of God in Icons has text explaining different images of the Theotokos. It also shows different variations of the same icon to help with icon recognition! I’m definitely going to be on the look out for this one (and The Life of Christ in Icons).
Goodnight Jesus
I recently ordered this one! An author and iconographer worked together on this beautiful bedtime story. Featuring Jesus, the saints, and baby’s family, this board book encourages kisses goodnight and love for God and family. Goodnight Jesus is going to become a bedtime routine classic for us! Aren’t Christian board books the best?
My First Read and Learn Bible
My First Read and Learn Bible is another great board book. It has lots of images and themes, with bible verses to go along with the different themes. What is good about this one is that it will grow in use as Little Fox gets older, with her eventually being able to use to book as a guide for verses to memorize!
