Holy Week

There is a lot going on in April! First of all we have Holy Week, almost like a second mini Great Lent. And I say this because Holy Week is separate from Great Lent, but more of a time to double down on our alms, prayer, and fasting, then to relax from it. Be sure to read all about Holy Week in the East here!

Bright Week

Bright Week manifests the light of our joy. So… Christ is risen! Indeed, He is risen! Alleluia! You can read our article on Bright Week here. And prepare your home by having a light to stay on in your icon corner all week, as well as icons of the resurrection to rejoice with praying in front of!

St. George

St. George is one of the family favourite saints. Also, I really love how St. George’s icon is a juxtaposition of the world’s view of his death. Just like with Jesus, his suffering and death is a victory over the devil. The lose of earthly life is nothing to the gaining of eternal life. Through the intercession of St. George, and the Mother of God, may we too conquer the devil in our own lives and so be granted the salvation of our souls!
